Tortillas?

Recommended Posts

has anybody had any experience with totillas? I am trying to plan my meals for the future and am wondering about tortillas, not so much flour totrtillas but corn tortillas somthing like making a small Breakfast burrito with eggs and ham?

I know bread tends to get "stuck" but was wondering about tortillas is all.

I am ok with tortilla chips, but regular tortillas are a huge no no. They get Gummy and get stuck. They also seem to swell. My general rule is that if it swells in a cup of Water, it's more than likely gonna get stuck. bread, tortillas, rice, Pasta. None of these work for me. I have crackers with lunch meats, or Soup and don't miss the other things at all. ~Mandy

P.S. I gave up my fave...grilled cheese, but nothing taste as good as being thin feels. ~M

Corn tortillas are not a problem for me at all. In fact mexican food in general is the easiest for me to eat...lucky me it is also my favorite!

I have to be more careful with flour tortillas. There are many different brands, sizes etc out there---and I have to watch what I buy to eat. I buy the thinnest ones I can, the thicker ones tend to get very doughy when they get moist. I get the thin ones, and have no problems. I use them for burritos, and for roll ups (pinwheels), quesadillas, all kinds of things! I do try to limit how much I eat with the flour tortillas, and not overdo it---just because I only have a little space to fill, and the tortilla is empty calories....but they sure are good!!!

i have done well with whole grain tortillas. they even make some that are made for weight loss plans. they are really tasty, but be careful, they still get stuck if you take too big of a bite.

I am literally on the border of Mexico and it is hard to avoid tortillas. I can handle either.....just not for Breakfast. Once I reached decent restriction tortillas were no longer an option for me for breakfast, but for lunch or dinner I like the flour or whole wheat ones. No issues there.

The only way I can do eggs is egg salad. I can't eat egg whites alone at all. Omlets are a sure way to get stuck. ~Mandy

I can't have tortillas. I love them, I make them for my family but as for me -it's a big no-no. I can't eat eggs that are boiled, poached or fried, only scrambled. I would love to eat a big fat taco. That's why I needed to have the band in the first place-I love food. My first nutrition break of the day is a Low Carb Slim fast, then I have a low fat light yogurt, small lunch, small dinner or another slimfast.

I am still using the low carb tortillas as a bread substitute but not as often as I used to and a half is enough for me. Of course I have to eat slowly and chew chew chew-

I am ok with tortilla chips, and hard taco shells. I usually order a single hard shell taco, break it open and eat it like nachos. Or I order a very small nacho if they have it. ~Mandy

I have no issues at all with tortillas. I also can eat toasted bread, rice, Pasta, etc. I can basically eat anything and everything I ate before. I just toast the bread very well and I prefer hard taco shells so they work best for me. I was even able to eat steak 3 weeks after surgery. I just take small bites, chew well, ait a few seconds to see how it affects me and off I go! My first fill is coming up and that may change things, will let you know howit goes.

I can eat steak, slowly as long as it's tender. I was able to eat anything I wanted until my second fill. Restriction changes things. ~Mandy

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
