Ok friends ...I need to vent a minute. My pouch is finicky. Only getting 40-60g of Protein. Some days less. Not enjoying Protein Shakes. They make me want to hurl. Anyone ever go to a whole food place and see what they have for protein? I'm desperate. My creatinine is low and that can indicate a protein deficiency. Aaarruuggggh!

Have you tried Protein Bars or Isopur drinks?

I've grown sick of the protein shakes, too. I've since switched to Isopure (kind of like Gatorade) and hot chocolate Protein Drinks.

I saw your post about the Isopure tasting like Gatorade this morning and ran out to grab some this myself. OMG, it's so yummy and I'm so tired of the shakes.< /p>

I drink the hot chocolate from MyBariatricPantry online. They have variety boxes. I ended up reordering just the plain and adding my own flavors. I also have a sample pack of protein bars from MyBariatricPantry, but I haven't tried them yet since they aren't part of soft foods which is the stage I'm in.

I like Pure Protein chocolate Peanut Butter. 1 bar is 20g protein.

What stage are you at that you are allowed to eat bars?

Just got banded on Oct 11th. Still very excited about it. I go in for my first fill in just a couple of hours. I can't wait!

Wow, this is such a learning experience! I had my 2 week appointment with my doc yesterday, which was actually 18 days post op. I have lost 22lbs, which I thought was great, but my doc says it is too fast and I need to eat more calories. At the moment, I am eating between 150-350 calories. He also says I need to eat more each meal. Normally I eat around 1/4c-1/3c depending on the meal. He wants me to get up to at least 600 cal, Protein of course, and 3/4c -1c of food. So tonight I had a 1/2c of chili (homemade, high protein). It took me about 60 min to eat it. Now I feel so locate and over-stuffed. And he wants me to do this 6 times a day. Eugh! I hate eating lol. So after tonight I am dismissing what my surgeon says and going back to following my nutritionist lol. He specializes in surgery, she specializes in food. Hahaha. Missing your updates October!

I can hardly get my protein shakes down too!! Way too sweet!! But I bought some unflavored Protein Powder and add that to it so that helps calm down the sweetness a little plus adds protein! What kind of Isopure do you guys like? I've only tried one and it was grape and it was so gross!!!! But there's a lot of protein in those things so I wanna try more!! I just started eating regular foods today!! Exciting but ended up bawling cuz I'm so frustrated with trying to count the calories and protein in everything I'm eating. I don't understand how to do it!!! I get how to figure out how much is in an ounce of something but what if I don't eat an ounce??! I know I doesn't have to be exact but I have gone through all this and I don't want to screw it up by eating too many calories and not enough protein. Ugh maybe I'm over thinking it. And I'm still not getting full from these stupid two ounce meals!!!!! :(. And I haven't lost anymore weight in over two weeks. FRUSTRATED!!!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
