Bypass to Bypass Revision

Recommended Posts

Has anyone had a RNY bypass revision? I had GBP in January 2005 and did great by losing almost 100 lbs. But in 2009 I started gaining weight back due to reverting back to my poor emotional eating habits after a horrible divorce. I have gained 75 lbs back and I'm pursuing a revision. My surgeon is well renowned for revisions but I don't know anyone who has their RNY redone. Any feedback?

Hello, how are you? I have had a VBG which was attempted to be revised but now I have complications, and the doctor is saying that the only way they could combat this is through gastric bypass which I am deathly aftraid of.

I have heard of people getting their bypass revised but don't know anybody personally. It's done like nothing today. Best wishes to you always.

Thanks for responding. I had no problem (medically) with my RNY GBP. I just don't understand that actual physical process of what my doctor is calling "bypass to bypass"

Yes, I have never heard of that either. I do know that when that happens, they put some sort of band around the area to make the stomach smaller. I think, I'm not sure because how can they reattach something that's already there, when you think about it.

Do you think that your stomach has stretched to allow you to eat more, if I may ask? Or do you think that it is just poor choices. My boss had gastric bypass about 6 years ago and is heavier now than when he had it. He certainly needs a revision! LOL.

He eats 2 slices of pizza at a time, a bagel with sausage, egg and cheese as well as wraps, etc.. Don't know how he gets it all down. Maybe I'm missing something. LOL.

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
