Recommended Posts

Hi I had my surgery July 19,2013 and it went very well. My starting weight was 187 after pre op 176 first dr appt after surgery 164. Not sure what my weight is now until my next dr appt Aug 23,2013. I am very happy of how many sizes I've dropped in this little amount of time:)

I lost most of my weight in the first 4months( I lost 100lbs, my surgery date was 1/29/13) Now I'm losing a pound or two a week, I've lost another 18lbs in the last month & a half. I hate that it's coming off so slow now, but at least I'm not gaining. I have a very hard time with exercise because I have RA that has destroyed my knees & they need to be replaced. Keep up the good work & you'll be at your goal before you know it! Peace, Mary

I have R.A. as well. Although the dr said visually my r.a. has not started being active. No swelling etc. My blood work shows continually I have it! As well fibromyalgia. My right knee clicks when I extend it but no swelling. I have 30lbs to lose for my goal weight. I had my surgery a few wks ago:) Are you on any R.A. meds that you find work well. And do you think getting on meds to prevent issues help?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
