Are you looking for the BariatricPal Store? Go now!

I can't believe this is going to happen.

I have wanted this for a long time and just last month I found this great opportunity to get this surgery for the fraction of the cost. My very first visit was late July and now I am set for mid September. I am so scared and excited that I just couldn't sleep so I found this app. I have read many of your guy's stories and I am so lucky that this process hasn't been as hard. Any tips for me?

Welcome to the group and the start to your new life. My tip would be follow the docs instructions and you will succeed. I would also say write down your dreams and goals. It is such a great feeling to cross off your goals when you reach them. Finally don't get wrapped up in the numbers. You will go insane if you only measure your success by what the scale says. Find other ways to measure you weight loss. For example I would measure it by how much of my feet I could see in the shower when I looked down. At the start of my journey I could not see them at all. Now I can see all the way to my ankle.

Remember we are all here to support you and feel free to ask anything. Someone has gone through what ever you are going through and can offer support.

Thank you so much. I feel so excited and am so ready for all of this. My main goals are being more comfortable in theaters as the seats squish my hips, to not ne scared to sit in any chair with arms, to not need a seat belt extender on flights, to like photographs of my body, to get married to my fiance, and one day have children in a body that can best nuture them.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
