After the first fill, how much..

Recommended Posts

After you get your first fill, how much was everyone eating? were you full for a long time? did the eating consumption go down? I'm paranoid...again lol.

Had my first fill yesterday and feel NO restriction at all. I called and scheduled another fill for next week. I can still eat pretty much whatever I want and that's not good!

KimFrmSealy,

I totally agree with you. I got my first fill on 2/2. I have no restriction as far as my tummy goes. Somedays I can eat like when I wasn't banded. Other times my esophagus feels so swollen I can't pass anything. I am having a hard time with this. Maybe I need to get another fill so I could stop eating so much.

Alice,

I think you should try another fill - especially if you can still eat that much. I can eat smaller amounts than before the surgery and be satisfied but I could certainly eat much more if I let myself. I have not had ANY problems with anything going down or coming back up. I can't wait until I get the fills right where I hit my sweet spot and can start dropping the weight. I am pleased with 20 Lbs in the first month but have not lost anything this past week :).

Good Luck with your weight loss journey!

I had my first fill on 2/12, and up until 3 days ago, it was not like I couldnt eat what I ate before, it was just that I seemed to got full faster. I was still snacking, but, still not eating as much. Now, it is really bad..I ate like 4-5 full sized chicken strips, and some girl scout cookies..I understand that the first 3-5 fills can be this way..my doctor doesnt expect a good weight loss, or even a weight gain the first 3 months after surgery.. I go in next week for my second fill and I know I need it..I have gained about 3 lbs...geri

I'm glad that I'm not alone! I lost a little over 10 pounds during the liquid phase and I'm worried that I'm going to gain it back now that I can eat like before I had the surgery. It kind of makes me feel like this is just going to be another failed attempt to lose weight! I have to keep telling myself that it's not! :) I also read in my paperwork that my doctor gave me a fill when I had the band put on. Is this normal? I felt restriction earlier but not really anymore and I definitley can eat. I'm getting my first fill on 3/13 and I can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
