So my band to bypass revision is 8/19. I joined WW 2 weeks ago to kick start my weight loss, and as a structure for changing my eating habits, but in the last two weeks I have eaten so much crap - stuff I will never get to have again - including 8 doughnuts today! I am so afraid this means I will be a failure! I can't spend $21k and go thru this surgery to fail yet again, but why can't I get it together????

Because you're human. Cut ourself some slack and get up tomorrow and face the day. You'll be fine, but doughnuts are evil!!!!!!

Take this pre-surgery time to work out why you eat. Examine what you're feeling when you binge, and that will be an excellent start to this new lifestyle.

I would also recommend therapy, Just regular talk therapy, I went through 6 months of therapy pre-op to address my food-related issues, and I think that was probably a blessing in disguise, because I was able to address and re-direct my emotions with food. Sometimes you need a little bit of help figuring yourself out, and It's really comforting to have a non-biased third party to talk to during this adjustment. I still see mine twice a month and I'm 3 months out.

You are normal. But think of it this way... If you gain more weight it'll be that much more you need to lose after!

I think everyone goes in for the "last supper" thing to some extent or another. If you have a food you think you're going to miss, try to balance the day out with healthier, lighter options for your other meals that day. Try not to make your job harder after surgery.

My doctor didn't require a liquid diet but I chose to do one anyway. I wanted to JumpStart my weight loss too. I lost eight pounds in two weeks before surgery drinking Atkins shakes. It felt good to be on my way... :-)

I know u want this change but how bad??? When u are strong enough to walk away from the doughnuts and don't look back your ready. You will not b able to eat like that initially post op but the cravings and head hunger remains. Then there will come a time when u can eat it, what will u choose???

Start taking baby steps in the other direction, we want success for u. This is major surgery a true second chance at life. I know u want that more than food run towards that. We r all here to support u and need u to support us. We all get weak! :)

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
