You are doing great, don't worry. I stalled from week 4-6 and gained a few pounds then also. I got very discouraged. Stay the course and know that this is a long journey filled with many more stalls. My support person is my husband and he is wonderful when I start feeling down. Trust your decision and know that you will make it!!

Keep in mind, there's fat and there's 'weight'. We are trying to lose fat. The scale cannot differentiate between fat and 'weight'. A pound of fat has 3500 calories. In order to gain 4 pounds of fat you'd have to have eaten 14,000 calories....at 2 1/2 weeks post-op, I don't think you could eat 14,000 calories in a week if you tried!!! Have you pooped? Are you retaining Water? Step away from the scale, take a deep breath, and chill! If you're following your docs rules you WILL lose weight. But I'll warn you, if you're already freaking over the scale this is going to be a LONG road!!!! There are ups and downs, you will stall, you will get frustrated beyond words, but if you follow the rules you'll lose weight. And if you don't follow rules, well, you'll probably lose some too, but likely not as much as you're hoping :). Good luck! You got this!!! (Now put the scale away!!!!)

Thank you sometimes I need that little shake of reality lol, yes I'm pooping (if that what you want to call it liquid in, liquid out....) I'm on full liquids till I'm 6 weeks then can start soft foods. I don't think I'm retaining Water either, hopefully this just ends soon and in the mean time, I avoiding the scale like I did before surgery lol

Lol, no problem! I know we all want to lose and lose quickly, but we've got a lifetime ahead of us. Why not enjoy the journey and not be crazy obsessive about every step. It won't kill us if it takes 3-4 extra months to get to goal....so long as we get there :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
