SSDI deny :(

Recommended Posts

I got the letter by mail. SSDI claim deny. I already contact a lawyer. I'm waiting for the paper work by mail. Then the lawyer can start working on my case.

What is the reason you are filing for disability?

I got a lawyer he only gets paid if I win. I heard this process may take up to 2 years. As long as I win its ok.

I don't know if each state is different but my dads case was also denied first and he got attorney and it took 2 years to finally get everything settled and regular checks. It was a long process

Best of luck

Yes that's the amount of time it may take up to. My lawyer is working on the case. I'm willing to wait as I don't have a chose.

Mami,

Here are some things that helped me get approved.(after two years):

Keep one doctor that supports your disability as your primary doctor

Get copies of all your medical records. Keep copies for reference.

If a doctor is evaluating you, ask what he or she will be specifically looking at. Get it in writing if possible.

Remember that SSI will be looking at all aspects of your life for disability. For instance, if you work out, they may see this as a reason to deny. Even if you admit to doing things like cooking( if you can), they may deem you healthy.

If other people are writing letters for you or filling in forms related to how disabled you are, review them, or have your lawyer review them, before submitting them. I was denied the second time because my sister estimated my disability at 85% instead of 100%.

Don't talk to SSI without clearing it with your lawyer. Let them handle communications.

Always take down the time and date you talk to SSI. Get the name of the person you talk to. I often got conflicting information from different people.

I hope everything works out for the best! Take care, babe!

That is pretty standard with ssd. I am 100% disabled veteran. Even being disabled through the VA did not help, I had to hire an attorney and it took two years. But going through the appeals process was easy. Both the ssd physician and employment expert provided compelling testimony in support of my case. Yes, there own experts supported my claim. It is a shame you have to lose such a big portion of your money to a lawyer, but a lot of people cave and can not wait them out.

It's true better to lose a few thousands but have you SSD forever monthly after you win. It's permanent. I have an appt with a neurologist to check my back once again & I want MRI to see the inside & clear me from anything or something being wrong. If I just have muscle issues with continue therapy & good massage I should be fine. I'm willing to work in the future if the MRI prove I'm crazy & there is nada wrong with me. I know something is though but I'm no doctor.

When you say it took 2 years. The process or in total the appeal & they kept denying you or you were approve & 2 years later you started getting your money?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
