I picked up my FMLA papers at wrk today. For reason it made me nervous. It jump started my anxiety. It is made it more real to me that I'm really going to be out of work for 6 weeks because my job does not have light duty. I don't know why I'm freaking out, I guess the thought of me letting HR office know made it more real to me more official. Maybe its because ive never taken a leave from any job so its a new experience for me LOL Did this happen to you?

I got my surgery date today and that made it very real to me. It seems like Ive been waiting for this date since February, and I'm kinda freaking out that I'm scheduled. I'm nervous, happy, scared, excited all at the same time!

Congrays on the surgery date!!! I think we're all feeling the same big mixture of emotions. Whats your date? :)

My date is September 3rd. The day after labor date. I was hoping to have a date in August, but they were booked. September will be okay though. My kids will be in school so I will be able to recover easier. The only thing that stinks about that date, is that it is the first day of school for my kids and my little guy is going off to kindergarten that day. So, I'm dealing with that emotion today too. He's my baby and my last one at that, so feeling crappy about not being there.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
