Do I go on a waiting list?

Recommended Posts

I notice my teenager very unhappy & it's breaking my heart :( since she is a minor she can't leave the house until 18. I'm willing to apply for section 8 under spouse & child abuse. I don't know where I go to apply. Is this the same place you would apply for housing? Should I start looking now since I heard there is a waiting list? I'm willing to apply and let her live in the apartment with the boyfriend until I have enough money to go live in my place. The lease and everything will be under my name, but she can pay & the boyfriend the rent requested.

We got 2 years to figure this out.

If you wanna help me out with locations & where I should go.

I live in New York city queens area & I don't want to leave queens. I want the most a four bedroom apartment but willing to settle for a 3 bedroom. I do want & need my own bedroom :) kids can share :)

Thanks

I know every state is different but here they only open Section 8 applications one day a year and the list to obtain a voucher is 3, 4, 5 years long.

Wow! So no matter the situation that's the waiting period? Wow!!! 5 years its long but doable we just have to suck it up if worst comes to worst. If anything they can rent a room somewhere until we can have our own place. Better then being on the streets.

That's how section 8 is. Emergency case or not. Got to wait.

Look into some foundations that have housing all around. They can get you apartment's fairly quickly, all rent based on income.

I live in an apartment complex that the Caleb Foundation owns and rents to me on how much income is coming in.

I apply for this place called HUD is for low income family. The rent goes according to your income. I'm researching, and applying all over especially if it's going to take years.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
