I'm almost 2weeks post op & I'm supposed to be on a purree / soft food diet but i literally have to force myself to eat, its horrible. I could drink Water alll day and not eat anything and be fine with it. One thing that does concern me is that all i crave / want are limes and hotsause. Any suggestions?

I too did not like food right after surgery, I had to set a alarm to remind myself to eat. That will pass... I love your craving Limes and hot sauce:) I probably would not use either one of them at this point but further down the road I'm sure you can. Lots of strange feelings, cravings etc. happen after surgery. I stuck to what my surgeon wanted me to eat and I got thru it. I got ALL my Protein and Water in daily that was my main goal until I was on regular food. Talk to your surgeon or nutritionist.

I stick to three meals a day plus Protein even if I can eat just a few ounces. For me I just want to stay in a good meal mode...but some days it's hard.

I agree with doodle. I would hold off on the strong acid of lines and hot sauce. However I love having lime I. My Water and I have read it is good for you. You might try a little in your water to see.

As for cravings - I can't get enough Asian food, and seem to be able to tolerate spicer things.

I craved salsa after having the sweet taste of shakes for so long. I pureed it in damn near everything. Spice doesn't bother me, but I know some can't tolerate it.

I find it weird how we crave certain things after surgery. Mine was anything mint and BBQ Sauce. 2 things I really didn't care for before surgery. I've gotten over the mint but I still use BBQ sauce.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
