My surgery date is June 10, 2013 and my surgeon wants me to have an IVC Filter lodged in me on June 6th, it's to prevent a person that has a history of blood clots (Pulmonary Embolism), this tools is suppose to catch blood clots that break lose, it prevents clots from reaching your lungs or heart. Has anyone else had this procedure, if so, does it hurt and was it difficult to remove after surgery? Thanks, all comments are welcomed!!

Yo- I had the IVC filter placed 1 week before surgery and it was the easiest procedure I've ever had. They knock you out and ace the filter through a small incision in your groin. No fuss, no pain. I got mine because I developed a blood clot in my brain in 2006 during chemo for breast cancer. I did the blood thinners for a long time and when it didn't dissolve, thy jus out me on aspirin. I would definitely recommend this procedure to take away any chance of any embolism issues. Good luck!

Ok that would be great, yes, I need a friend to go through this with, the IVC doesn't hurt at all, they went through my neck, I was so worried, the gave me something but I was still awake during the procedure, and it only took a little while. You'll be fine.

Great. Only a few more days until we will be in the losers club.

I know right, are you nervous or anxious? I don't know what my feelings are, at first I was excited, nervous, and scared. Now I have no feelings, I guess it's normal, especially when you are preparing yourself mentally.

Vitav04, do you have a family? I will be celebrating One Year wedding anniversary June 29th, my husband is trying his best to be supportive, he's one of those people that believe if you take daily Vitamins and juice you can lose weight. But he's the reason I picked up so much weight, he loooves to eat, I don't know how I'm making my pre op diet, the way he eats, lol. I also have a 24 year old wonderful and supportive daughter, along with my parents. I love my family.

Well after you lose weight, you will definitely be able to have a baby, everybody I know who had WLS, got pregnant within the first 6 month of recovery, it amazes me...but girl I don't want no more kids, I'm 42 will be 43 this summer, I have 4 step kids and 1 biological, I bet two years in you will be telling me "I pregnant" you just wait and see, you still young, at baby making stage. Lol

I really feel in my spirit that when all is said and done God will bless us with some children. It just gets to me because I hear from everyone, "when yall gonna have a baby?" It's not like I'm not trying lol. So where do you live. I'm in Dayton Ohio.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
