Hello! I had my gastric bypass on April 28, I've been to my doctor for post op and lost 20 pounds (exciting!) but past few days I seem more hungry then usual and at odd times. I seem to be eating dinner, around my normal 5-6ish but then I begin to feel hungry again around 9 and I don't like eating late at night and I also don't want to over due it especially being recently introduced to puréed food.< /p>

I would really concentrate on whether you feel actual hunger or mental hunger. Actual hunger will go away with a glass of Water and twenty minutes. Head hunger lingers...

That's exactly what mine said. Hunger for those after surgery means dehydration.

I find that when I'm NOT constantly drinking I get hungry between meals. I don't even this its hunger, its like a craving of something in my mouth.

I stop this habit by chewing gum. Refreshing & my mouth gets tired so I don't have to stuff my face

Thanks, it now being almost 10pm I'm getting the "hunger" feeling so Im starting to sip on Water. As for the gum that was another question. Does it need to be sugar free gum because I've been wanting to chew but wasn't sure on brand or anything

I use sugarfree due to the fact that high sugar makes me dump.

I've also had this issue. I feel hungry at night but I also had the issue of eating at night before surgery. It was like my comfort at night when my ex had left me. I think for me it is a hard habit to break but I'm pretty sure mine is head hunger. I also think night is when I realize how thirsty I am because I have a moment to slow down and feel it. So instead of eating I drink and it makes all the difference for me. I also recently moved to a two story house and when I'm in my room I'm too lazy to go downstairs for food lol. Hope it gets better for you!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
