I found a drink that I really like... Oh Yeah. It stated that it was lactose free, which I was excited about since I am lactose intolerant. Well I beg to differ. Back to taste testing again. I guess only premade Muscle Milk agrees with my stomach.

I hear that our taste may change drastically after surgery, so maybe try some again after you get your new pouch.

Yes your tastes will more than likely change after surgery so even if you absolutely love something right now, post op you may hate it. Good luck on your search. Check around online. You can get samples of most of the Protein Shakes so you can buy some and mix them yourself (some syntax flavored taste good in crystal light).

My taste changed big time!!! I was a big meat eater, steak, pork, bacon, chicken. After surgery I cannot tolerate any of it and I don't even crave it, I can eat fish but for the rest of the mentioned meats I pass !!!

Dittos for taste changes, I even think Diet Coke and Pepsi smells like lighter Fluid now! Smell AND taste changed for me. Can't digest even a little chicken breast or soft pot roast...nausea follows. I guess everyone is different.

My nutritionist told me my taste buds will change after surgery. This should be very interesting.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
