Just thinking of all you post op patients. How are you doing? How's the transition going? Are you hungry? Overall feeling?

I'm doing well. I got to come home today, which makes me so happy. I missed my kids! My surgeon wants us to use the first week to concentrate on getting Water in, so I'm not on Protein shakes until next week.

I'm pretty sore on my left side, but otherwise I feel great. Definitely not hungry!!! I'm excited to start losing weight and see where this next phase of my life leads.

Glad everything went well and you were able to go home! And it must be nice not to be hungry.

I'm here....I can't believe it. So far I have been able to keep everything down. Goal today is to do more Water. I'm keeping track of everything I eat and when I eat it so it helps me plan. That is me a huge planner. Last night was a challenge because it was my first night in my own bed but was able to sleep most of the night before I moved to my recliner around 3 in the morning. I have found the more that I move the better I feel. Gas pains had decrease but what I have found is if I sit in the bathroom for a few minutes longer than usual it helps and the pains go away. I hope everyone else is doing good and their recovery is on track :)

I'm finally here on the losers bench. It's been a tough 2 days. Surgery was Tuesday. I've had dry heaves/some vomiting. Ugh, really feeling better today since they switched ny anti nausea meds last night. :-). Now drinking my first Protein shake and Water with crystal light. Sip, walk, sip & walk are gonna be my list of things to do!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
