It has been almost 4 years since i had gastric bypass surgery. I feel so frustrated because i had no support team after my surgery. The day of surgery i was 345 and today i am 250. I have a 17 month old who was born with some nutritional issues due to my gastric bypass. I feel out of control with my eating...it seams like after that first year i was able to eat whatever i wanted and thats what i have been doing. I need to get back on track but i dont know how or where to start. I have tried the Protein Shakes and hate them...i have busy lifestyle so i need quick meals....i just really feel defeated. I will be 30 in September and my goal is a size 14, i am now a 22. Any tips would be much appreciated. Oh another thing...i cant workout because i just had acl surgery.

I would get back on track by first looking at what you are eating and start by eliminating all the fattening things. Once you are healed from your ACL surgery I would start walking or do some sort of exercise, maybe have your ortho. dr. suggest something. The key is diet and exercise.

I'll be honest with you that no matter what I knew and what support I received, nothing helped me like seeing the nutritianist. Yes, I probably knew more about my own body and helth than she did - but something about seeing her HELPED and I dropped 40 lbs after her meal plan and support, despite all that I knew.

Are you able to go see a WLS-specific Nutritianist? Can your surgeon recommend one?

I think that is great idea to go back to the nut!! I've been stuck for a while myself. I even heard there were procedure that they could do inside your stomach to make you feel full again.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
