The smell of pizza 9 days post

Recommended Posts

I can't say I'm hungry but my roommate ordered in pizza and that smell...while everything else seems to have no affect on my, that pizza is just making me crazy. You know the crazy that a month ago I would have hit him with a lamp and took it away from him? Glad I grabbed a shake and headed to the office to read. My first hard food moment since surgery.

At 9 weeks post op, I can eat 1 slice of thin crust pizza but not eat the outer edge and be totally satisfied.....3 months ago I'd eat every bite of 4 slices of regular crust. It's AMAZING!!!! (And yes I'm allowed a slice occasionally....the really cool part is I just don't really want it that bad, woohoo!!!)

pizza is my fav. I am 1 yr post op and can eat one slice now but it has to be thin crust, no meat and either plain or with a veggie. I was able to eat pizza about 6 months post op. Before sureger I could eat 4 slices with no problem, now I can barely get one slice in and that is not eating the outer curst too.

Yup, that friggin pizza smell gets me every time. And have you seen how many commercials there are for pizza, seriously? Only 10 days out, cannot even think of pizza right now.

Today was the first day that anything smelled good at all. It was fried cheese quesadillas for me. OMG I almost died. I had to go for a walk to get away from it. lol. I'm 8 days post op.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
