Did anyone have to take at least one class before there surgery?!?!?? Jeez I know there are a bunch of "mills" out there that just do bypass and dump the patient after a year.... If you have a good surgeon and good Bariatric office you are a lifer... If you go on the Internet and read the gold standard RNY bypass you will read about drinking with meals' date=' dumping syndrome etc...

Why would anyone opt for this surgery if they are going to cheat or go against the guidelines that were specifically made for this procedure.... I have read tons of complications for this procedure in my everyday job caused by careless patients and some caused by surgery. Sorry I'm off my soap box now....

HW 250/1st Lapband 198/2nd Lapband 232/Pre conversion 2/6/13 to bypass 232. Currently 206 Bariatric GW 134, Realistic GW 150[/quote']

I didn't even take anything not even the nutrition part because of my honey a word was sitting and plus for my ass reflex they have to take apart my stomach out but not everyone has to have the class. and some people do have the classes don't mean that necessarily following the whole thing. that's why we have the support group to tell everybody no no no

Well i didn't have any classes only one therapy session and that's it' date='I really wish I'd taken my time to learn more about afterwards and to find a surgeon who really cares,my first consultation was on 1/27/13, and my surgery was 2/26/13.now im on my own when i call his office his nurse that deals with Gastric bypass patients has a attitude the rest don't even know what to say and his bedside manner is terrible.i had my one week follow up then once a month follow ups. I've gotten more info here than i have from my surgeon and if I'd known before what I know now I would've acted on a impulse thought to have this surgery mentally i wasn't ready im not eating right and more depressed than ever but i guess it's too late to turn around now.[/quote']

yes it's too late to move back cause we're all here for each other to move forward so you know you have us. my doctor and his crew is sometimes the same way but then sometimes they turn around have a change of attitude.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
