Sharp pains in my shoulder?

Recommended Posts

I have some really sharp pains in my shoulder and chest. Is that gas? I'm 13 days post op and really thought I was over the gas a week ago. I haven't had any gas pains for a week and now this. OUCH! Is it gas?

Thanks for your help!

i'm 26 days post op, and still get the pain in my left shoulder. I was trying to figure out if it was gas, but I noticed if I eat over a 1/2 cup of food - i get it. It's weird. But the heating pad really does help. I have one pluged in right by my bed. I have used it a lot!

Just my 2 cents worth. Lots of folks experienced gas pains several weeks from surgery although I was very lucky not have done that. That is all normal. Best advise there is to get moving to work the gas out. Rocking in a rocking chair helps too.

In my 3 year experience with the band, I have had a slip of the band one year out from surgery and had to have it replaced. Looking back at things that could have played a role in the slippage, I, too, remember getting that shoulder pain after eating just a little too much. I tried to watch portion size. After the revision surgery to have another band placed I am extremely cautious to eat only till I am satisfied not until I get a full feeling. When I ate till I "felt full", I would always get that shoulder pain which lead me to believe I ate too much. Eating too much will cause the stomach to stretch and could cause the band to slip.

My best advise is just stop when you feel satisfied and no longer hungry, not till you get a full feeling.

I've started measuring my food out now, I stop when I get to 1/2 cup of food. This has helped me tremendously. I just thought I would not have as much restriction as I am only 4 weeks out now.

I still have no fill in my band. But measuring my food out really helps me in not over eating.

Thanks for you great advice. And wow, you look good!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
