6 Ounces of Filet Mignon

Recommended Posts

I like beef and at three months post op find that filet mignon, when chewed thoroughly and eaten slowly, goes down very well and keeps me feeling full for an extended period of time. Here is my question: is it better to eat a filet that rare, medium, medium-well or well-done. My preference has been medium. I also find that I can eat an entire 6-ounce steak in 30 minutes as long as I eat nothing but the steak. I enjoy the flavor and feel satisfied. Is 6 ounces too much? Should I eat fewer ounces of steak but more ounces of something else, such as vegetables or fruit? I am not touching bread or rice. Is 6 ounces too much? I do feel full but do not feel on pain after eating.

I'm 8 months post op and can't eat more than 4 ounces without feeling too full. I think your stomach nerves haven't "woken up" since surgery yet. My nerves didn't start working again until about 3 months post op. once they did I wasn't able to eat as much.

The way the meat is cooked doesn't matter as long as you take the right precautions when eating rare meat

Remember, red meat is very fatty and not nearly the healthiest source of Protein as it has been associated with heart problems and a whole mess of other health issues. It's okay every once in awhile but don't make it a regular thing. chicken, fish, and soy are much healthier

Actually, filet minion is not considered fatty...and is probably the best cut. But, I agree with kaylee ann- you should limit your portion to 3-4 oz max. Dont stretch your pouch.

My surgery was in November 2012 - so I am about 3 months out. My Iron levels were low after surgery so I have focused on eating a lot of beef. And it seems to me that whenever I eat filet mignon during the week, I lose more weight. Not sure if there is a connection. I know that eating a lot of beef supposedly is not good for us but I love it and thus eat it. I eat only lean beef. Of course, I do not eat gigantic steaks like I did in the past.

I do eat a lot of soy Protein. I also eat a lot of boiled eggs. But I do have beef at least 3 times a week.

Red meat sits the best with me as long as it is lean like filet. And really lean hamburger is the same (fat and calorie wise) as most chicken breast. It is pricey but I eat so little now. Actually, my dr told me to limit my soy.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
