I'm just starting my journey, called my insurance and they could not find that i needed to have a six month supervised diet. But with anthem you never know what they will pull out of their pocket. If just saying if i get approved by the end if march do i go with it and do it then, because we are going to Mexico June 11 and don't know if i should attempt to travel like that so soon. Or would you wait until you get back to have the life changing procedure?

If you're having surgery in March you should be fine to travel in June. Just make sure you go prepared with whatever types of foods you'll need at that stage, and bring bottled water! Don't necessarily trust what they tell you over the phone, get the policy in writing. You can get it online or you should be able to find it in your handbook if you have one.

I have Anthem too but it depends on the state where u live as to determine if u have to do the six months. My ins co said they DO NOT require the six months but they DO go by the state of Maryland ( where I live) medical ins guidelines. Well Marylands guidelines were 6 months or 2 sets of three months within the last two years. Be careful of that.

also about travel... it all depends on your doc. I had surgery on nov 27th and the doc cleared me to travel from FL to VA in mid December.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
