This is a normal cycle, I've been the same, get a fill, drop a bit of weight quickly, drop a tiny bit more then maintain till next fill. But over time, as I've approached perfect restriction (not there yet, groan, 14 months down the track, I dont think I'll ever get there) the fills last longer. Its taken 3 months for me to get hungrier this time, not 3 weeks.

I'm going in for another fill on Tuesday and can relate to what you're experiencing. Because of the high volume of patients, I wait 6-8 weeks for a fill appointment. This time, the restriction was perfect for a few weeks and then slacked off. Regardless of what my level of restriction is, I stay on a healthy diet and don't allow myself to "pig out" or go crazy. For me, that sets off a chain reaction that can last days.

Try joining one of the challenges to help stay motivated on on tract when you're waiting for a fill. Also, try taking up a hobby. If you're doing something with your hands, they can't pick up food! :-)

Try making a monthly appointment with your doctor. You can always cancel if you feel your restriction is sufficient. But you have the security of knowing if you need to see him/her the date isn't too far off.

I make mine while I'm writing out my copay check.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
