Best tasting protein shakes

Recommended Posts

Hi all! I'm a newbie to this forum and have just started my road to surgery. Right now I'm on my pre-op diet and need to lose 15-25 lbs. I've been trying different Protein Shakes, but haven't found one I like quite yet. I've tried pure Protein in the chocolate flavor (I've liked this the best so far), muscle milk light in the chocolate flavor (didn't like it at all!), and Atkins Advantage in the dark chocolate flavor (this one was alright). Any other suggestions for filling/good tasting shakes? Are they all pretty "blah" over all? Thanks in advance for the help! :)

My favorite are the Atkins shakes. Also, GNC has a lean Protein Powder that is fairly good.

I like Designer whey, but I don't think it is 100% whey isolate like they tell you to get. I haven't really found one I "like" at all because I have to mix them with water.....its more like which one can I down without gagging...I don't know what I will do when I have to drink it slower.....hope you find one that is tasty......if so let me know please

Unjury and Atkins are really good! I use EAS a lot too and sometimes slim fast carb control shakes! I had to start mixing it up because you can get tired of one brand if you use it a lot. I like to just drink skim milk too. Best of luck to you! :)

Baratric Pantry has a bunch of different sample packs you can order. You can order one from Unjury too. This is how I found my favorites. I like Syntrax Nectar chocolate Truffle and Syntrax matrix Mint Cookies and Cream for a change. I also like the Unjury. They have a chicken Soup too that is great for post-op.

Thanks for all of the suggestions, everyone! I really appreciate it. I did some research on the Syntrax Nectars and they seem to have great reviews and a variety of flavors. I'm going to give it a try and see how I like it! Thanks again! :)

Wow! Got my shipment from bariatric pantry. Made the matrix mint cookie shake with milk, omg! It is so tasty and a lot less fat than the Atkins. Thank you worm for the suggestion. I feel like I'm cheating by drinking this :)

Have a great Wednesday too! Sorry you're hungry all the time, I'm pretty much the same..and I'm sick of eating the same food all the time.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
