    Almost 6 years...

I am a little over 2 years out. I have struggled this past year and have gained 14 pounds. I came back to this forum for help as I so depended on it my first year. I read that so many of us have gained some and struggled with the lifestyle changes we have to make to stay healthy. I saw that many have gotten back on track by using the 5 day pouch test. I looked it up online and read it for about a week before I convinced myself to give it a shot. It really has helped. I have lost 5 pounds and feel much more satisfied with healthy food choices. Of course, I've cut my calories by 300-500 per day, log all my food on "Lose it", Zumba three times a week, and drink more than 64 oz of water a day. I also walk half a hour daily. Your biggest hurdle was admitting you had to get back on track and you've done that. You're back on this forum for support. Know that we are all here for you. You got this! Good luck and check in often to let us know how you're doing.

    Getting back on track!

I am 25 mo post op and never reached my goal weight though I did lose 120 after surgery. I have gained 14 lbs this past year. I too had some family things that enticed me back to sweets, carbs, and alcohol. I got back on this site a couple of weeks ago and see I am not the only one! Last week I read about the 5 day pouch test on this forum. I googled it and read about it. I started it last Thursday. I feel so much better! My cravings are gone and I've lost 5 lbs. This weight thing is truly a life long struggle. Good luck to you!
  3. Try upping your protein to 80 or 90 a day. Make sure you are drinking at least 64 oz of water. Good luck!
  4. Unfortunately I have no problem with alcohol. I work it into my daily calorie count and have a couple of glasses of wine in the evenings.
  5. I haven't seen anyone mention this yet, but I don't require as much sleep as I did before surgery. I used to need between 9-10 hours a night. But now 9 months post op, I'm good with 7-8 hours a night. An unexpected bonus.
  6. Knock on wood, I have not dumped--yet. I am almost 9 months out. I do not feel so good after fried, high fat foods, beef and sometimes chicken, but I haven't found anything that makes me dump. I have never even thrown up once. I just try to stick to the "good" foods.

    16 days until surgery!

I went on a cruise to Alaska last month at 3 months. I tried to watch my choices for meals but I lost 6 lbs. that week! I think from all the walking. You'll do fine!

    0-6 month

I have been drinking coffee since I was a little kid. I NEVER thought I could give up the caffeine. I started out with 1/2 regular and 1/2 decalf. I never had headaches. After a month or so I switched to all decalf. It wasn't too bad. After my surgery, I tried a cup of decalf. I hated it. So now, I don't drink coffee at all. I do love the smell, but I have no cravings for it. Weird.

    Cocktail hour!

I have no issues with alcohol. I was hoping I would have a problem with it, but alas... I do find if I have a protein meal 30 minutes before having a glass of wine, I don't hardly even get a buzz.

    Fabulous February Post-Op's

I was getting about the same as you 500-700 calories and 85 grams of protein. Then I stalled. So now I'm trying more protein..90-100 grams and upped calories to 900-1000. I lost 3 lbs last week. I weigh tomorrow so we'll see if I'm on the right track. I started more exercising and stalled immediately. Frustrating!
