So I just got my blood test results back and they found H Pylori. Has anyone else had this happen? They said its ok and they will just treat it with antibiotics but I'm kinda freaking out.

I had that too. I had to take antibiotics for 2 weeks. No big deal. Bad news is that they won't do surgery until u finish the antibiotic.

Yeah that's what she said. 2 weeks of antibiotics and a test 4 weeks after that. So basically its going to set me back 2 months. Does it ever come back? What caused yours?

That's the bacteria that can cause ulcers so it's a good thing they tested you & can treat it with a course of antibiotics. I would ask the office or the pharmacist if the antibiotic can cause a yeast infection just to be safe. Some do & they can prescribe something for that if needed. Hopefully it won't do that though.

I had that test years before I did the surgery. The gastro dr told me I would always test positive for it. So when I went to have the surgery they apparently test for it and was unable to schedule my surgery. I was so pissed because I was up front from the beginning about it. They knew I would test positive. I had to have my gastro dr send a letter telling my bariatric dr i was already treated for this. I finally got my date and that day changed my whole life

I had this before surgery. Luckily my surgeon schedules the EDG just

a couple weeks after your first visit so it was diagnosed and treated way before surgery. This was the second tine I had this too. And yes the antibiotics to treat it is aweful and harsh and does cause a yeast infection and thrush sometimes

I had a weird thing happen. When I went in last friday the 18th to see the nurse for my assessment at the hospital where I am getting my surgery done , The nurse told me my blood work tested positive for H Pylori. She asked if the doctor was treating me for it. I told her No. He actually told me I was negative for H Pylori. He did a biopsy in my stomach for it when he did the EGD. So I have no clue what that is about. Anybody ever have that happen?

Have you had h. Pylori and been treated in the past? If so then the blood work is useless, the antibodies against h. Pylori will always be there (in most people anyway). The only way o test for an active infection in someone who has had it in the past is either biopsy or an h. Pylori breath test. Hope this helps!!!

Thanks. As far as I know I have never had it. This is the first time I have ever been tested for it.But biopsy was negative for it . The nurse said my blood level was 7.2 which is really high. She they start treating if your blood level is 0.83. She was going to call him and find out. that was last friday and I did not hear anything so I am assuming everything is good.

I'd call and harass em. You don't want the calling you last minute and saying 'oh by the way...since you have h. Pylori we have to delay surgery' or some such thing. I guess there is potential that the biopsy sample didn't have h.pylori but there's infection in another part of your stomach? (Now I'm guessing :D)

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
