This is one of the greatest forums. I have been lurking reading and absorbing what everyone has to say about the band and decided to actually make an appointment for a consultation. My appt is monday with Dr. Criggins office in Dallas Tx. Has anyone here used him or his partner? I have ckd with my insurance (united healthcare epo) and there really isn't any hoops I have to jump through so I am keeping my fingers crossed.

I don't know anything about Dr. Criggins - but Welcome to LBT! Hopefully, some other Bandsters have used him.

You might also try searching under Criggins. Click on Search (in white on the blue bar at the top of the page) and type in Criggins.

Also - you might try going to the Doctors & Hospitals forum and posting your question there.

Good Luck and Happy Banding!

Congrats on taking you first step!!!

You're right, this sight is excellent, without it, I doubt I would have been able to make the big decision.

GOOD LUCK!!!!

This site was very helpful in contributing to my decision between the RNY and Band. The biggest obstacle is now convincing my husband that its the right decision. He is usually very supportive but we have agreed to disagree on this one subject.. he just says to tell him where to show up at and what to buy for me to eat.. lol

Hi Missy! Welcome to lapbandtalk Forum! I personally think you made a great decision to go with the band. I spent a long time researching both the band and bypass. I am only 10 days post banding, but very glad I did it. Feel free to pm me or send an e-mail, I will be happy to answer any questions you may have. Best of luck to you-Gigi:)

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
