Opps!- I've Lost Weight...Help!

Recommended Posts

I am in the medically supervised weight loss diet phase of the qualification process and I have been following low sodium diet my doctor insisted on and basically eating as close to natual foods as possible. Too my surprise I have lost about 5 lbs, however I still have 125 more to go. I am afraid the weight loss will hurt my chances to qualify for the surgery which I believe will permanantly help me. Should I be worried? I'm in need of some advice.:help:

Thanks,

-Prebander

You still have alot to lose, so don't worry you should be fine, I think it's a great idea that you are making changes now, it will make it easier for you when you are banded and it should prove to the docs that you are serious. I agree with you when you talk about needing something to help permanently, we are all capable of losing weight, keeping it off? well thats another story all together!

WELL DONE!!!!

Alot of doctors require you to be on a preop diet and expect you to lose weight. So, don't worry at all. It's just that much less you have to lose afterwards. Good Luck!

I was told I had to loose during my medically suprevised diet. Specifically 10% or my insurance would not pay for it. Check into your plan a little more and be sure you don't have to also. I thing it really sucks, but I am determined to do it.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
