My name's Krysia, I'm 33, and I've finally on the losing side of WLS.

Was banded with a VG band by Dr. David Rohrer in Great Falls, Montana.

During the 2-week pre-op diet, I lost 12 pounds.

My doc said that my band had been "primed" in surgery with 3 mLs already, since it's such a large band.

One of these days, I'm going to get a scale for my house, but not today. Still feeling sore and tired. (Having 3 kids under the age of 10 will do that. )

I'm sitting here with the now finally empty glass that held my Protein drink --- it took me all morning to drink it. (Like, 3 hours, slow sipping.) And now I feel over-full. Ugh.

I'll figure this out eventually.

Hey Krysia,

Congratulations on your banding.:clap2: I am to be banded Monday, Feb. 12 by Dr. Rohrer of Great Falls. I am so surprised to see someone else on this site banded by Dr. Rhorer. There are so few of us, you know.:) I would really like to know how your surgery and hospital experience was.

Good Journey,

Terri

PS You may want to go to the February 2007 Bandsters thread - it is just for us:)

I'm being banded tomorrow by Dr. Ortiz in Mexico. I know the post op diet is going to be tough but I'll get through it.

Congratulations on your new lifestyle change! You will be feeling so much better soon enough.

Good luck.

Hi Krysia and congrats on getting banded! I just wanted to welcome you!It sure can be hard with kids. I was banded on 1/30/07. I have 4 kids-though a little older 14, 12, 8, and 6, but still work. Make sure you get your rest-Take Care-Gigi:)

Anyone struggling with post op diet of liquids? I heard some people can go to mushies pretty quick. My doc says two weeks. Protien drinks, thin Soups, etc until then.

My doc basically lists Clear Liquids the day of surgery and the day after. Then, for 2-3 days after surgery, full liquids, like V8, cream of wheat, grits, Jello, yogurt, ice cream... Then after that, mushies for 4 weeks (as tolerated): mashed sweet potatoes, cream of wheat, strained/pureed fruit, yogurt, cream Soup (strained), pureed meat/fish/poultry, ricotta, cottage cheese.

He said when I see him in 5 weeks for my first fill (if necessary, and considering his office is 5 hours from, IMO, it'll be necessary; my luck, I'll say I don't need a fill yet, and then 2 days later... Yeah, needing that fill. LOL! But since I can eat 3/4 cup with no problems, I'm thinking it's fill-time), I should be ready for solids at that time.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
