January Dates

I am starting this so all of us who are beginning 2013 in a big way can share stories, advice and experiences.

My surgery date is 1/21/13 and this has been a year long journey for me. I began last December with a physical and my Dr. and I decided it was time. I had to go through 6 months of weigh-ins and visits with the nutritionist before I was even allowed to see the surgeon. I finally met him in July and then was given a whole new list of tests and appointments that needed to be done. My insurance finally approved me earlier this month, but only for surgery after January 1, so January 21st it is.

I am so excited to start this journey and thank you all in advance for sharing your experiences here!

Lovenox can burn or sting. It is a very small needle and it is given in the adipose (fat) tissue around abdomen so it doesn't hurt as much. I am an RN and give these shots all the time. Some complain of a little pain but most don't. It is much better than getting a intramuscular shot anyday..

I am so proud and excited of and for you. You did it. I knew you could. You have been there for all of us. Your an amazing person. Pray all the happiness and health that one is able to have. Best of luck' date=' LOSER[/quote']

Thanks SO SO much!! It was hard, but NO regrets anymore! How are you doing???

I was getting heparin shots! I told them to STAY AWAY FROM MY STOMACH, and put it in my arm instead hahaha

I got my Heparin shots in the arm, too. Three so far, with one more to go!

I was told I have to do 14 days of lovenox in the belly when I get home. Yaayy me. I will do it to keep from getting blood clots. but I am don't have to be happy about it. LOL. anyway. I am so looking forward to so many things when I lose weight that these are just small hurdles. :)

I think I would much rather take shots than to continue this liquid diet. Bahahaha! Honestly, it hasn't been quite as bad as I anticipated, so I am praying that I can make it through the next nine days.

I'm 5 days out from revision band to bypass surgery. My back and shoulders are still in way more pain than my stomach. I wasn't hungry till I got home, and now everything I see I want to eat. Still in clear liquid hell for one more week. please tell me the hunger and back pain will get better! :(

Had surgery on 1/14. On the soft food phase. Surprised how good I feel. Gas is still an issue. After the surgery my back hurt worse than anything. Luckily they warned me about that and that I would come home weighing more than when I went in....I came home 12 pounds heavier! I'm down 7 pounds of that. Haven't been hungry and having a hard time getting enough protein and fluids in. Looking forward to getting onto food I can chew!

Promise you, it will get better. Towards end of 2 weeks, I wanted something that resembled real food. My tummy wasn't happy w just liquids anymore. I was so hungry.
