January Dates

I am starting this so all of us who are beginning 2013 in a big way can share stories, advice and experiences.

My surgery date is 1/21/13 and this has been a year long journey for me. I began last December with a physical and my Dr. and I decided it was time. I had to go through 6 months of weigh-ins and visits with the nutritionist before I was even allowed to see the surgeon. I finally met him in July and then was given a whole new list of tests and appointments that needed to be done. My insurance finally approved me earlier this month, but only for surgery after January 1, so January 21st it is.

I am so excited to start this journey and thank you all in advance for sharing your experiences here!

Good Luck and God bless to all the the surgery left for this Jan safe recovery. We will look for you on the losing side.

I just started my Pre-op liquid diet today because my surgery is the 29th. I am so very excited yet somewhat scared and apprehensive. I think that I am more worried about the level of pain for the 48 hour period afterward. Can anyone share their experience about this?

Good luck to all of us "up comers". We can and will succeed! dde09

Hello surgery buddy. I am 8am the 29th. Will watch for your updates!

YAY! Finally, another 29th'er. LOL You will be in my prayers surgery buddy. We can do this!! Please keep me updated as well. :)

I'm so upset that I couldn't get my revision surgery on the 19th. I had to much scare tissue around my band so I have to wait 6 months to have my gastric bypass.

At least you know that when you are able to have surgery that you will be nicely healed and ready to go. :)

Good luck guys!!

Good Luck everyone!! Keep us posted..

I feel like a personal good luck wagon! Lol i am so excited for everyone!

I cant wait for mine!!<3

This is gross and TMI...but have any of you post-op people experience any diarrhea? I seem to go maybe 2 times a day since surgery. I am deinking enough fluids so as I don't get dehydrated!

my mom had gastric bypass 8 years ago and goes between diarrhea and constipation

Yes!! In fact, that's all I can do right now besides pee. I was told I may not be released from the hospital until I passed gas or had a BM. Well, the gas just wasn't happening, but I did have diarrhea. I was like a baby showing mommy her first poop! Showed the nurse and said, "Does that count?" LOL. I'm not even worried about it. There's no solid food in my system, so I can't expect anything solid to come out.

Not doing too well in the passing gas, either, but I am burping quite a bit. I'll take anything I can get.
