January Dates

I am starting this so all of us who are beginning 2013 in a big way can share stories, advice and experiences.

My surgery date is 1/21/13 and this has been a year long journey for me. I began last December with a physical and my Dr. and I decided it was time. I had to go through 6 months of weigh-ins and visits with the nutritionist before I was even allowed to see the surgeon. I finally met him in July and then was given a whole new list of tests and appointments that needed to be done. My insurance finally approved me earlier this month, but only for surgery after January 1, so January 21st it is.

I am so excited to start this journey and thank you all in advance for sharing your experiences here!

Thank you everyone for updating the list as it increases, you all are awesome!

Well, I need to have surgery again today to fix the complication. Very scared and regretful

Good luck today. Try to hold off on feeling too regretful just yet. Give it some time. Once you get past the first month or so, you will hardly remember the complications (or at least have lost enough weight for it to have been worth it). I think what is getting me through these first few post op days is just imagining where i will be in six months. There are complications quite often so you are definitely not alone. I have one of the best surgeons in the country and he had to do a second surgery on someone while I was in he hospital.

Keep your chin up and imagine what the summer will hold for you! I'll be praying for you.

Anyone else having amazing grumbling going on in their belly? I was "running" to the bathroom every time it started but just ended up sitting there listening to it rumble. I have had a few movements, but they were not solid and the grumbling only stops for a few minutes after I go. I hope someone else with surgery 1/14 is having this same thing and maybe someone a week further out can tell me when it went away!!

I'm sorry that your going through this, prayers going up continuously!!! Praying for quick recovery...

Be strong. I'm so sorry to hear about you having to I back for another surgery. Just think even if you have a month of pain and sadness it's worth the rest if your life being happy and healthy. You are in my prayers today!

You will be in my prayers. Try not to regret cuz you will beat this and be so happy that you did it regardless of what you're going thru right now. I know it's difficult at a time like this, believe me (if u follow Dec post op thread you'll know why I say this) to Try to look at the future. I'm having another surgery too unrelated to the RNY in 2 weeks. So I know how you feel about having a second surgery so soon when you thought you'd be home and recovering. You've got so much support here and with your family and friends. Rely on everyone for your strength if you can't find that strength in you right now cuz that's ok. We are all here for you and I can't wait to hear you say "even though I had complications I'm so happy I did this." That is my hope. So you are in my prayers and thank you for keeping us updated!!!

Oh I am so sorry you are going through this. I know that there are complications and they are never fun. However, even those who have had complications have said GB was the best decision they made. I know right now you are not having any fun post-op with another surgery but just try and stay positive and think about your future. You are in the best place to have a complication and they will take good care of you.. Best of luck and Hope your second surgery goes good.. Thanks for keeping us up to date...

My thoughts and prayers are with you today. I hope this takes call of all of the complications and you can begin to heal quickly. Be strong, you can do this!!!!

THANK YOU everyone for your supprt, prayers, and thoughts! I had my emergency surgery this morning...no additional cuts, they already went through my incisions. Surgeon said there was a kink in my small intestine...one of the stiches or something kinked it up. I was throwing up all night, bad burping, bad reflux, but everything seems fine now. Tomorrow i will do another swallow study and hopefully get to drink some water. I havn't drank since Monday! I feel much much much better. My surgeon is from a center of excellance and very very well known, so complications do happen. I went into the surgery not expecting it to be bad, but it happens . Wish me luck on final swallow study tomorrow and I should be home by Ssturday if all is well. THANKS TO YOU ALL <33

I hope everyone is doing ok today.... This liquid diet is kicking my ass... I fubbed up today and had 3 pieces of chocolate... Im not doing so great right now being very hard on myself. . Has anyone else had a really hard time with this diet?
