Hi all, I'm post op RNY since 10/2. I'm absolutely miserable and regret it. I can't eat! Im 30 lbs down & felt better before surgery. I had a stricture which the doc did an endo twice to fix. Certain smells, foods, and even brushing my teeth at times makes me vomit. The shakes are vile, taste of Vitamins are awful too. Idk what to do. Doc says it'll take time but I should feel better and be able to eat more in a couple months. I can't go another day. Does anyone have similar experience? Will it get better?

I am sorry you are having a rough time

I have not had a stricture but I thought I did once. Its a day by day process. One day I can eat and the next I can't. It will get better.

Yes, I had bypass. I cannot say that I don't recommend it, stories are diff for everyone. I'm just at the point where I wish that I didn't do it. I hope I feel different soon. I can't eat, hardly drink, how do you survive like that. Thank you for the well wishes.

It does get better I promise. I went through the same thing. Have a good boohoo session and get the feelings out. I went weeks without being able to eat without throwing up, I regretted my decision to have the surgery, and kept thinking what the F$@& did I do this for.

I talked with my doctor and I got through it. I am 5 months post op down 80lbs and 5 pant sizes. I can eat just about anything I want, but watch my portions.

Just hang in there and remember why you did this in the first place. It will get better and better!!!!

Don't ever hesitate asking questions on here!!!

It got better with anti-nausea medication that my doc gave me and learning about my pouch. Everyone is different and you must learn what food makes you sick. I would take my anti-nausea medication 30 min before eating and that seemed to help. Stay in contact with your doctor and tell them everything. My doc said that as we loose fat it releases toxins in our blood causing the issues.

You will get through this!!!! Remember why you did this, and keep your eye on the prize. If you ever have questions feel free to send me a private message.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
