Hang in there! I trusted my wonderful surgeon to choose what was best for me. Same situation. Young, no major health issues yet but didn't want to die because of my weight. There are many options as far as bariatric Vitamins. Buy small amounts and find what suits your stomach. Keeping in mind what works now may not work after surgery and what you can't stand now works great after surgery. Same with Protein supplements. I've found my body to be quite contrary!

What is your BMI if you don't mind me asking? My sister had VSG at a BMI of 50 and has lost 110 in 5 months...clearly this is an even faster rate than many RNY patients I've spoken to!

I do know what you mean though. I planned for the sleeve extensively. I found out my insurance won't cover it, and I was shocked and scared to go ahead with bypass. I've researched bypass though and I'm ready for it. I do second guess myself sometimes....but with the bypass, I know I will be more successful in terms of weight loss.

I'm thinking currently BMI of 46. I'm mostly focused on weight loss #'s. I'm at the point now where things will slow down so I need to ramp up my exercise. I work in a warehouse 9 to 10 hours a day on the mid shift. After I get my daughter off to school I get myself ready and head to work. I don't get home until 8:30 or 9 pm and I'm not really motivated to exercise. So I have to quit making excuses and get my but in gear. I'm happy to answer any questions you may have. I've been blessed in that I think my experience has been easy compared to some I've seen here.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
