Right Side Discomfort

Recommended Posts

3 weeks post op today. I've started getting a pinching achy feeling on my right side. It's below my incision. My incision is not infected. If I rub the area it feels tender and kind of knotty. I explained to nurse, she didn't have any thoughts. Anyone else have this type of feeling?

Hey Angela, I too had right side pain and I asked my docks there is any reason why the right side, and she that she ad to cut a little bit deeper into my muscle and that it would probably knot up then eventually get better. I don't know if that's your problem but that was my story. Get better soon :)

Surgery date October 10, 2012

My grandmother, a nurse, suggested that the instruments used probably were invasive to the area so your reply makes sense! Thank you so much! It's awesome to come on here and know someone has shared your experience!

Reading this eases my mind a little. I was getting nervous when out of the blue I had this right side twinge like I strained something.

It does go away! I had the same issue. It takes time for muscle to heal ~ and apparently, Protein. I wasn't getting a lot of protein in the first few weeks - I have no idea if that was related at all. Someone on here recommended the Unjury chicken broth (20 G protein for 6 oz of broth/sold at unjury.com) and it helped me turn the corner. Good luck!

It was about 6-8 weeks post op. I may have waited a bit longer than necessary though because I had accidentally rolled onto my stomach once ~ OUCH! After that I waited until I was certain I'd be okay. I used pillows too - cushion helps.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
