I searched about having surgery for about 2 years. I would go back and forth about what to do or not to do. I have tried every exercise program, diet pills, diet liquid drops and just to loose weight on my own. Well it might of worked for a little bit and then BOOM I would go back to my same ways and my weight would go back up.

You have to write the possitive and negativeof having the surgery. Which list is longer? For me the number 1 thing was to be around longer for my kids, i'll be healthier, walk around all the time without being winded, at the pool I won't be the "big Mom", i'll fit on the roller coaster rides, I can shop anywhere I want, I will tie my shoes and won't have to pull them up to my leg with pulling on my pant leg, my kids won't hear that their mom is fat, I will control how much I eat, and thats just a few. Cons the liquid diet, finding out how much food runs my life, and nervous about loose skin but that can be fixed. See how long the list of possitive and how short the negative is

You have to do whats right for you. I think everyone is always nervous about the unknown and thats alright. If we had a magic wand or a future mirror would we make the same decision? If it means that i'm here longer then i'm making the right decision to have the band. Your life isn't over with surgery but its the end of food running your life.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
