Hey everyone I was wondering if any of you know of any high Protein low carb diet foods would be good to have? I have to take in around only 1500 calories a day but need low carb and lots of protein. Any lists of foods or diet plans so I can follow it I'm bad at following diets unless I have someone there supporting me or doing it with me. (I'm alone in this cause hubby is picky eater and my family like siblings and parents aren't dieting either...) so any suggestions would be great along with very appreciated. Also I've heard of cologen (spelling?) Protein Shakes I was wondering if anyone knows if that would help with sagging after surgery? Well anyways thanks so much!

Atkins and Southbeach are low carb. Atkins is high Protein.

Basically eat your meats/proteins first...then veggies...then fruit and stay away from white flour, sugar, white bread, Pasta, rice and potatoes.

Exactly what my dietitian said. High density Protein, crunchy fruits and veggies and high Fiber, low fat/low sugar grains/bread. She said Aunt Millie's was a good brand of bread to buy. Just make sure there is more Fiber than fat and sugar.

I have been using youtonics and it is a collegen protien drink they are not the tastiest they remind me of melted Jello but I too think they will help with saggy skin I mentioned it to my dr he said I could use then but not any more insite on the skin thing i don't think it would hurt to try

Amaze.. Not sure we should have the collagen protien.. Rny patients don't absorb it. whey Protein is key.

That's interesting I wonder why my dr didn't mention it? Thanks for the heads up. I've been doing whey but pre surgery like a year now using the collegen. I did plan to get it in here and there I'm going to have to run it by him again. Thanks!

I'm am pre op right now and doing high protein/ low carb and sticking to 1200 calories a day and trying to exercise 30 minutes a day also. No one is dieting with me either which makes it hard but we can do it together. eggs are high in cals so I eat egg whites. Low fat cheeses, including cottage cheese are good sources of Protein. I drink low calorie high Protein Shakes by EAS (whey) called AdvantEdge low carb whey protein shakes. They don't taste the best but I use them for a meal or part of a meal ( meals should be around 500 cals if no snacks) or as a snack. I also just bought whey Protein Powder because it's way cheaper than the drinks so I'll start making my own shakes. Just like other people said, eat meats (like chicken turkey and fish) then non starchy veggies. I stay away from fruit all together on a low carb diet and also avoid breads pastas and rices all together. But if that's too hard eat fruit like watermelon or cantelope and eat whole grains if you have to. Another thing that's totally helping me is myfitnesspal.com. It's a calorie and exercise tracker and a lot of people from here are on it. My username is amcdowell779. You should join if you haven't already it's an awesome app and everyone's so supportive!!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
