The whole city isn't shut down, this is semi-normal. Usually in Dec and Jan. It's usually ice in feb, not all the %&^* snow. I like the fact that it's not sub zero anymore, but I could live without the snow. I took the pictures so that those of you in warmer climates could see it. I also sent them to my sister, she's in west virgina, and was complaining about a little snow and some cold temps, it's in the 40's there (ha, we swim when it hits 40) ~Mandy

Burrrrr Mandy, that makes me cold just looking at it. We don't have any snow, but it might snow tomorrow, it's going to be 28 tonight. The wind out there right now is so cold!

Sherry - Sweetie, sometimes when we are too tight, it works against us and makes us gain instead of loose. Keep an eye out on things and see what happens. You have done a great job with your band, don't feel bad at all. Your day will come! Hugs!

Beanie - It's holiday time, (Valentines) so enjoy your desert!

Hi Eileen!

Going to go start something for supper. I'm cold, I need something good and HOT!

HAPPY BANDIVERSARY SHERRY!!!!

I know we discussed this earlier today, but I really do think you need to focus on the positive and all the positive changes you have made over the past year. Today is for celebrating you, the band, and the 77 pounds you have lost - never to be found again! The gain is a slight set-back, probably due to being too tight. I am proud of you - as a fellow bandster and friend. You are my inspiration and my partner in crime in this journey. Keep your chin up, and know that you look HOT!!!

Back from the urgent care...I have a double ear infection, a sinus infection and an upper respiratory infection. If I am not radically better by sat, I have to have another chest x-ray done. I have some murkiness in my lungs, but not enough to diagnose pneumonia (sp?). I am on antibiotics, a couch suppressant and a decongestant. I am off to bed. See y'all tomorrow. ~Mandy

Good Morning,

:DHappy Valentines Day :)

Well we didn't get alot of snow YET, but its very icy here, sleet and hail. The heavy snow is expected later today.. I'm home :) Bad thing is, I have lots of VD candy here

Beanie.... good for you for exercising... now remember if you walk to work its triple mileage points :) I will be going to work late tomorrow b/c of the icy conditions they are calling for in the AM... Sorry but I don't think lunch is doable :(

Sherry good luck with the change of diet and your reflux. Hey listen girlie, dont' get to bummed over the 5 lbs... You know in your heart it'll come off and so do I. I haven't gotten on the scale since Christmas and I'm scared to... I'm eating way to much chit :( I'll get back on track, I know I will. Hang in there

Patty !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! where are you sweetie :)

Pat !!!!!!!!! you too??? where are you ???? don't make me get out my flying monkeys.

Cindy how are things, how's dd? I would love to visit Texas one day and I'm getting very antzy so maybe one day soon you'll see me at your door step LOLOL ask Beanie :guess

Mandy rest yourself and take care :)

Betty Boop ! you sound as crazy as me. I just can't seem to get a few minutes to slow down and catch up with everyone. Sad it takes a snow day to do this. How's your foot? how are you feeling?

Darcy dontcha love contacts, I wear them too...been doing it for 4 years now... my next step is the surgery, but that won't be for a while, I'm still chicken chit when it comes to my eyes. Did you buy a new dreadmill?

Chrispy hows the new appt? its gotta be better than living by that nut huh. Your progress pictures are WONDERFUL, you look amazing.

Well kiddo's nothing much happening here, just watching Monster House with Dd as she lays on the couch. I got some dinner going in the crock pot and well, thats about it.

Howdy!

Well, crazy though it may have been, we drove into Orangeburg today and worked for a bit. The office closed early - so now we are contemplating cabbing into downtown to catch dinner and a play.

Not a DARN thing to do here except go to the lame sports bar - so we are getting the heck outta Dodge.

I will let you know which fabulous adventure we have when I get home.

Mandy - I don't think I will be joining you for that swim at 40 degrees... LOL! I am with the whiney butts. Anything under 40 is just too darned cold! I hope your meds help and that you finally get over this crud!

Betty - I am enjoying every bite - but I will have to pay for that later....

Chris - Hi! Hows by you?

Eileenie - I guess we'll just have to get your butt down to Texas if we are going to miss lunch. Round about April, while it is still blowing and snowing up here - it will be in the 70's at my house. :biggrin1: I recommend April or May for visiting. **Oh - and exercising tonight will consist of dashing from one doorway to the next to avoid the lovely snow.

Well, I have to run - I expect we are going to be able to get a car of some kind to come and get us.... Think good thoughts.

Love you guys!

Sounds like Oprahs show, they get all the cool stuff that she is giving as gifts for the season. Last year, it was $175 jammies, $125 slippers, Ipods, phones, cologne, perfume, gift sets, clothes, shoes, cheesecakes, liquor, dishes. I wanna go on Dr. Phil, but Oprah is sooooo close. ~Mandy

DANG it's cold! When that wind blows it sucks the life right out of you!

Tonight Robert & I ditched Lois & Wanda (they wanted to stay home and vegetate) to go downtown. We had drinks and appetizers at Bubba Gump and then we went to see Spamalot. It was FABULOUS - totally hysterical.

Robert knew about a place that sells half price tickets TKTS or something like that. We got good seats (not a bad one in the Schubert Theater) for half price and got to see a great show.

All we had to do was get to the TKTS booth at 46th & Broadway early enough to get seats - which was absolutely NO problem in this lovely weather. Clearly, LOTS of people wanted to stay home and vegetate.

The show was great - the cast was having a lot of fun with it - and that always makes for a great show. It was far superior to the movie version, IMHO... The Monty Python stuff goes over SO much better live than on film. I totally loved it!

Love you guys! I'll check in tomorrow.

... Always look on the Bright Side of Life.... (whistling)

Hey All...

Just thought I would pop in and tell ya I am having a helluva time the past couple of days...WTH???? Boy...it's like teetering on the edge of a cliff... somebody throw me a line so I don't fall off the wagon!

Sherry... Happy Belated Bandiversary... you have accomlished so much and should be very proud of yourself... like Chris said... you are one hot chickie babe!

Mandy... Yucky...sounds awful... hope you get better soon!

Pat... I want to see Eileens flying monkeys... as long as they don't fly outta her butt. It's a tough decision... see Pat...see flying monkeys...hmmmm..... :D

Patty... Seriously... you must come say hi... you are missed.

Irene... I am coming to live with you... laughing burns calories and I have a feeling I would be skinny as a rail within 6 months at your house. :Banane20: Desserts are evil... chocolate is evil... ice-cream is the spawn of Satan... so... cover your eyes... plug your ears... and zip your lips with the next out of town trip...lol. I think you said you worked out while you were there right???? I think that cancels out dessert doesn't it? :Banane20:

Kat... How's everything going ???? My sister is out of wood for her stove at home... I told her she needs to take lessons from you for cutting and hauling wood!

Betty... Hope your neck is feeling better! I still don't have the contact mastered... I required the biggest ones they make... jeeze... the big ole saucers stick to my eye like glue when I try to get them out and won't stick for nutting when I try to put them in...lol.

Okay... Hopefully going to the YMCA will get me on track again this evening. I have had trouble at my port site off and on since I was banded... anytime there is pressure from gas in the left upper quadrant of abdomen I get stabbing/ cramping pain in the muscle just below my port. For the last month it's been really bad and it's starting to wear me down... usually once whatever is causing the pressure moves along... the pain completely disappears... but it's really hanging on right now. Anyhoo... maybe it's the increase in exercise??? I guess time will tell but it's really getting on my noives.

Happy Belated Valentines Day !

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

      2. Selina333

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
