When Can We Drink?

Recommended Posts

I can't keep food down 2 endoscopes later and I just lost my job. I want a glass of wine bad. I'm at 5 weeks. Anyone?

Sorry you're having troubles. If you want a glass of wine, try it. Sip slowly and make sure you drink it at home.

It probably wouldn't hurt you but watch the sugar content so you don't dump. How about a Miller 64 (64-calorie beer)?

I'm so sorry you lost your job. Wishing you all the best. I had my first cup of Piña colada with rum. It was delicious last month. Enjoy it sip slowly. That's what I did.

I was tild no drinking for six months to a year bcuz it dehydrates you. I suppose you could double your Water intake. Sorry for your loss.

I had wine about 3 months post op, I had a glass at home just to gauge how I will handle alochol. I did not even the a buzz !!! I was told by my doctors office in one of the classes that when you drink you can get extremely buzzed after RNY so be very careful. In my case the wine is the same as it was pre-op. I have not tried any other alcohol yet... maybe I will try a vodka and see if that has any different affects on me. But wine i was OK with.

The worst part of WLS the 227 bottles of wine we have in our wine cellar. Before you think I'm a drunk we bought the house with the wine cellar already in it. And my wife's cousin works for a liqueur distrubitur. And is always giving us wine to try.

I like the hard stuff like Knob Creek single malt my wife likes Red Cat wine

Tempted to try but I was born a chicken

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
