Waiting Is Exhausting When You're Already Ready

Recommended Posts

I am pretty much done with my pre-op testing, but need to wait till my 6th month weigh in in December before submitting to insurance. After all is said and done, I am probably looking at surgery in January since my bariatric office is so slowwww with scheduling appts because they're super busy.

Anyone else HATE waiting? I keep seeing posts on here about everyone getting their surgery soon and mine feels years away. Anyone else stuck doing the dreaded 6 month weigh ins? :(

If it makes you feel better, in Canada it's a 3 year wait for surgery. Yes our health benefits cover the surgery but it's a long ass wait.

Holy Jesus! 3 years is nuts!!! My final 6 mo weigh in is Sept 14th!!!! Can't wait! I started all this in March and time has really gone by quickly! I am greatful for the 6mo weigh ins because I feel like it has given me the time I needed to really educate myself on the whole rny process! Hang in there!

Isn't it amazing how you struggle, sometimes for months, trying to make the decision regarding surgery. You do the research, discucss it with family and friends, do some more research, read the stories of others, talk to doctors, do more research. Then you finally are ready. You make your decision - "I'm going for it!" And from that point, that very second, all you can think about is "I want it NOW"! Lol. I bet you there is not one person on this forum that doesn't (or hasn't) felt the exact same way. It will go faster than you think and from reading your posts, you're going to be a fantastic success story!!

Thank you so much DLC. I think what makes it worse for me in terms of waiting is that my sister who I live with just had her surgery. She had a long journey and tons of hoops to go through, but she's so happy and now 40lbs lighter in 4 weeks. Seeing her progress only continues to make me realize that I want this surgery NOW! Lol. I know all good things come to those who wait though...and we've all had to struggle and wait :) Hopefully my time will come by late December or January.

I'm doing my liquid diet now and it isn't difficult at all...just boring. My surgery is Aug. 31. and the time is going so slowly.

I had to do the 6 month diet as well. Started last November with the process. Had my surgery on my birthday July 3. It will be so worth it once youre done.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
