Waiting Is Exhausting When You're Already Ready

I am pretty much done with my pre-op testing, but need to wait till my 6th month weigh in in December before submitting to insurance. After all is said and done, I am probably looking at surgery in January since my bariatric office is so slowwww with scheduling appts because they're super busy.

Anyone else HATE waiting? I keep seeing posts on here about everyone getting their surgery soon and mine feels years away. Anyone else stuck doing the dreaded 6 month weigh ins? :(

  • Isn't it amazing how you struggle, sometimes for months, trying to make the decision regarding surgery. You do the research, discucss it with family and friends, do some more research, read the storie

I start my two week liquid diet on Monday- ugh! I went into kitchen today and boxed up everything in cabinets and whatever was not open in the fridge, and gave to friends. I am gonna miss BACON!

I understand the frustration with the long journey. 6 Years ago I went through all the preregs for the surgery (psych, diet, seminar, heart eval etc) but I lost 12 pounds and I ended up being denied. It was through med-i-cal and there was no way to fight the system. I was so devastated to go through all that only to be denied. This time Is started that process in Aug first diet class in Sept and then was afraid to lose weight and only lost 6 pounds. Then they told me I might not have lost enough to be approved (Ugh it was horrible) I had also done all the other prereqs. Finally I was approved in May and my surgery was on June 7, 2012. But it was stressful and once I got that approval given I went and lost 11 pounds the week before sugery. But until I woke up from surgery I was so sure something would happen to cancel it.

I am so grateful it wasn't canceled again and overall the time went quickly but it sure seemed to drag at the time as I was so stresed the whole time, that was the worst part.

The next 3 months, especially with all the holidays to keep you busy, will just speed by. Enjoy this time and continue to educate yourself and prepare your family. You will do awesome and be a great success!!

This is what I am scared of. Sometimes I wonder if I am sub consciously sabotaging myself thinking something is going to prevent me from having this surgery after wanting it for so many years and now that it is in my grasp something will take it away. I quit smoking a month ago and gained 7 pounds. I have to lose at least 5 by September 24th but I don't know how. I am constantly hungry now. Not only did I quit smoking I went through 2 weeks of h-pylori treatment which now that is over I am hungry I don't know what to do to help get over this

Nope. My surgeon told me to lose at least 20 pounds pre-op. Period. No weight loss' date=' no surgery. Never even discussed any kind of diet. Just lose the weight. Worked for me - I lost 35 pounds pre-op!![/quote']

Well, I'm in the hospital. Had my surgery Thursday so that makes me two days post op. Right now hating this. Can't wait tobe back to normal...with anormalbody! Today I developed a deep cough which makes everything worse...and I have a new pain on the left...maybe air? Not sure.

I sure hope you feel better Amanda. And wtg on having the surgery

Thanks. The cough is pretty much gone so I feel a lot better. I'm waiting to go home:). Just gotta 'go' before they'll let me leave
