Finally got my surgery date :) September 25th is the day my life will change forever. I'm really nervous for my 13 day liver shrinking diet. Has anyone had to do it? If so was it hard?

I'm on my 8 out of 14 day

My day two and three were the worst! Phsyically Headache but I was not drinking enough fluids

I am three shakes a day and two Protein bars

The rest is now mentally Yes I'm going through withdrawals with wanting that roll or anything!

But try different crystal light drink favors and carry a Water bottle filled all the time that helped

I am down 10 lbs and now on the downward slide I also keep thinking of the reward at the end.

Thanks for the tip :) n congrats on the 10lbs lost. I will definitely make sure to drink enough fluids during that time. I start the diet on sept 12th. How have the past couple of days been for you? I hope better :)

We share our surgery date and I to have to do the liver shrinking diet. I bought my supplies ( Optifast ) online on eBay saved about 100 bucks. I bought an extra weeks worth to jump start my diet and did it for three days. I noticed I was not hungry did not have the headaches I have seen people complain about but I did have gas and diarrhea.

We will both start out 13 days on the 12th so we can commiserate and support each other through it. Are you dieting now? When I First started my three month program with the drs office I went a bit food crazy and binged on all the food I was giving up. I actually gained 8 lbs and my doc was not happy. So now I am doing the four food groups the drs website suggested

Protein

Veggies

fruit

Limited carbs whole wheat only and small quantities

Plus I data entry everything I eat into myfitnesspal it keeps my snacking to a minimum because I don't like to admit to it lol

Yes it is much better Everything that I am taking is has made me full.

I cherish my Protein Bars and starting to practice how I should be eating post-op by taking very little bites chewing till there is nothing

Last night was the first night where i was actually having hunger pains

Today I'm on my 10 out of 14 Days are going fast. :-/

It's good to know I have a surgery buddy, keeping in contact will definitely help me stay on track when I go through my liver shrinking diet :) as well as staying on track afterwards. is Optifast Protein Powder? i really haven't started buying supplies but I know I need to soon. I was on a diet when i went through my eight week class but since then I have picked up some of my old habits.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
