Has anyone had issues with Protein? I have narrowed down my bowel issues to protein. I believe it is whey protein that is making my intestines hurt. I have had horrible diahrea since increasing my protein to the recommend amount. It is making my days seem very long and frustrating.

I can not do dairy, so I use NO whey veggie Protein. The dairy and whey cause me to stomach pain, swelling is horrible.

sugar free things give me Migraines. I found a beef Protein shot at GNC - plan to try that and hope I can choke it down.

You are not alone! I narrowed my intestinal issues to the Protein Shakes as well. But after 6 weeks I didn't have to drink them anymore. I used Boost Glucose Control. Thankfully it's only temporary. Best wishes!

I have read that we can become Lactose intolerant for a period after surgery. They suggest you switch to Soy Protein and then later try the whey again. Have you tried soy protein? There are soy protein powders that you can add to other foods such as unsweetened applesauce or other mushies if you're allowed to have them.

Yes! I'm at 3 weeks and still no luck with Protein. When I drink it, shakes or juices, I just gag for hours and become nauseated. The smell of it makes me sick to my stomach. I never thought I would run into this problem! Ive bought so many I need to find a way to get samples. :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
