Anyone Have Tricare?

Recommended Posts

I'm new to this site and I have tri care prime (west) my husbands in the navy and I've been talking to my pmc about having the surgery done. I go to see him tomorrow and kind of follow up with him on my diet, I started talking to him about it in may and he said that I might be able to have the surgery in July or august. I'm 5'2 and 208 pounds I started at 230 and have been dieting and exersicing with my husband 6 days a week. I suggest that you make an appointment with your pmc to start the process of having test run on you and letting him know what kinds of foods you eat and how long you have been on a diet. There is no wait list where I live at but it might be different in other places tri care west is different from the east. But if you can see your pmc on a regular basis the process may be much quicker. I hope that this has helped you and good luck on your journey :)

That's awesome I'm so happy for you, my PCM wants me to just stick with diet and exercise because I'm only 21 and I can lose the weight but I've hit a wall and have stopped losing weight for a month now and I go see my PCM Monday and hopefully he can start getting me approved for the RNY soon!!! I'm hoping tri care can get me approved within a month (lets hope) how does your husband feel about you having the surgery?

I have tricare and i'm stationed overseas for me to get surgery I had to first get pcm to agree and give me referel for hawk. Then I had to go threw 6 months of diet and exercise classes and get them to sign off. I had to go see a shrink and get them to sign off. Then everything got sent to tricare and they made the final decision. I started the process in april 2011 and got my approval in january 2012 and sugrery was febuary 18,2012.Was a long process but so worth it now. Being that we are overseas my sugery was done offbase.

I have tricare prime south, started in march got everything done n now they want more documents re weight loss programs.... So I have gone to my pcp and he said he would write me a letter stating what ever I needed so I am really hoping the letter will be enough and I will be cleared for surgery.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
