2 Days Post Op...i Am Amazed!

Recommended Posts

I had my surgery on Monday. Got home from the hospital Tuesday afternoon. This is late Wednesday night. I got in all of my Fluid, all of my Protein and walked for over an hour in the park this evening!! I don't know what I expected but it surely wasn't this. One of my friends, Jen in SoCal told me to get up ASAP and I did. I walked 16 laps around the floor the night of my surgery and eight the next morning before I left. I find it really hard to get up out of bed but other than that I feel great. :D

Very encouraging! I was told we have to stay in the hospital 2 nights minimum but, sounds like you were able to go home after 1 night and doing well. That's great!

Getting up and moving is definitely the key. I went home next day as well....of course I didn't do 16 laps but got up and moving...even before they removed the catheter. I'm not really a hospital type of gal

The gas is BEYOND my expectations! Anyone else??

2 months 5 days post op and I'm still gassy...nutritionist said its the stuff they use to make things sugar free. I stopped Crystal Light and gas subsided a lot. But the good thing is the gas let's u know that u don't have a bowel obstruction

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
