I am wondering if there is anyone here that is on a plateau that would like to do the 5 day pouch test with me?!? I need all the encouragement I can get. Last week I weighed in at 180 and today my scale is trying to lie to me and tell me that I weigh 191 which is an 11 lb gain......I'm going crazy because I feel like I'm doing everything right except maybe getting in all my Protein so that's why I'm trying to find a buddy to do the 5 day pouch test with me!!

I am new to the forum, but not new to WLS. I am almost exactly 3 years post op. After having a baby a year ago I have out on 10 pesky pounds that I am having problems shedding plus I'd like to lose another 5 to hit my all time goal weight of 125 pounds. I have read lots about the 5 day pouch test & believe it is a great way to go. It comes highly recommended from several friends. I am gearing up to start it on 4/23 and am very hopefully it will curb my carb cravings and give me that tight pouch feeling again. Feel free to join me. I need a partner in accountability because I don't get dumping syndrome & can eat anything and everything I want. Which is why it is crucial to not let these 10 pounds turn into 15 then 20 and so on.

The 5 day pouch test is when you want to check and see if your pouch has stretched or quit working. It's a 5 day diet designed to help you take control back & get back on course. Google Kaye Bailey & The 5 day pouch test. There is a website but the book goes into way more detail.

Yeah I would buy the book but I'm a cheapskate lol! I am just gonna do the basics! I'm just gonna do the 5 day pouch test to see if it will help me loose some extra pounds cuz I've been at a plateau/gain for over 3 weeks now!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
