Hey guys! Well im officially a week and a day post gastric bypass surgery! My new life officially started March 1 2012 :)

Its been a rough week to say the least. Ive gone through ups and downs and the buyers remorse but I know I made the right choice. Its been hard not having any real food I think thats where Ive struggled the most. There have been a few occasions where Ive chewed up a piece of chicken then spit it out just so that I could chew something. I felt sooo pathetic but I didnt swallow it!

Today I kinda had a realization after putting clothes on and them fitting differently. I can finally see a difference. Im down 28 pounds from my highest weight so Ive been waiting for hear and see I look different. I told myself why should I be sad I cant have that pizza those people are eating on TV .. Im the one losing a pound a day while they gain? Its the results that will keep me going and motivated.

Im hoping to find some people here who just give some advice to help through it but Im also more than willing to answer some questions about pre op and such :)

Hey B. I feel the exact same way. I did that a lot with the lapband just to get the flavor. I had my surgery 2/29 and I am still going through the wish I could take this back. And why did I do this surgery. But I keep thinking when I get skinny it will be worth it. But that still doesn't make me feel better. I guess whenever I actually can get back into my pre pregnancy clothes I will be more content. But it frustrates me to see people eating the things I want. I'm like I want food it doesn't even have to be fastfood. Salmon and all seafood or steaks would be nice. I am still really gassy from the surgery super uncomfortable. Do you still feel gassy. And panda my pain level was high when I came to. And I panicked when I couldn't find my morphine pump. They also gave me acetominiphine and loritab. That wasn't really controlling it so they changed it to oxycodone which knocked it right out. But you also feel super drunk n sleepy. I was so gassy it was uncomfortable. They said walking would help, didn't much. I stopped my pain meds bc I was constantly sick to my stomach, the pain was manageable by the 3rd day. I ended up with a obstruction in my intestines. Word of advice if they make you drink that stuff to see how your food flows and they say drink a lot. Don't. Sip please sip bc I did exactly as they said and it put me in a bas place for a week. My energy level is so low. I constantly feel light headed and tired. Also I've been really moody lately. Hope this helps. Good luck to both of you.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
