I don't have this problem but I've talked with others and have heard all kinds of symptoms from stuck food. My things are usually runny nose, hiccups and bad chest pain! My guess is if you are sure that it ONLY happens when you have something stuck then it's probably just another bandster thing that happens to us! However, bad headaches should be taken seriously especially if it happens at other times. I'd still mention it to someone to be sure.

Yes yes yes

I get the same pain in my head and I am so glad I am not alone. I get it by my temple on one side. Yesterday I had to puke for the first time since banding cause I was stuck and the pain in my head was great. It never went away even though I got the stuck food out and it turned into a whopper of a Migraine. First time I had to bring food back up though. Usually the headache goes away when the hurting food goes down......

Lapbandit, That was my thoughts exactly but while I was browsing the forum I didn't see anyone mention about the sharp pain in the head so I was starting to think I was weird or it was my imagination. It only happens when something doesn't go down right..

Vintagehound, Thank you so much for posting it's good to know I am not the only one.. The way you explained it is EXACTLY the way it happens for me. I to get it near my temple it feels like a constant brain freeze a nasty pain. Atleast now I know it's normal I will still ask my surgeon why it happens just to gain some insight on it..

Thanks for posting guys I appreciate it :(

Yes, I get the same thing. It's a sharp pain in my left temple. For me, it's a sign that I ate too much more than I got stuck. I started measuring my quantities and making sure to eat less than a cup at a time (could vary for you, of course) and that completely alleviated the problem.

Good luck!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
