I did the home study with sleep Solutions. They have a good system and it wasn't complicated. Someone delivered my machine and gave me a lesson. I did need to go to my Dr. and have him fuss with the settings.. ...all in all, it was fine.

I wish I could have done an in-home study!!! I HATED doing a sleep study- I've done two and both times were terrible! You will be SO much more comfortable in your own bed!!!

The in home version is much much better than going to a sleep center! Be glad that your insurance is forcing your hand on this one!

They send a small light weight package and instructions for you to put the monitors around your middle..and breathing mointors as well as an oxygen minor for your finger. They also call you to discuss before you use it and have a check for you to see if it was effective before you sent it back. You sleep and thats it. It is easily packaged back in the box and returned.

One thing ...and this is after you get a cpap...is that it is monitored by a cell modem and they would call me every week with stats....you used it this many hours..this average....how can we help you? There is also a small data card in the machine that records all use, and how effective it is. Yyou can pop it out and bring it to the dr. with you.

I also have BCBS but in MI. They had me do a home sleep study first. I didn't pass that, so then they approved a sleep study. Two sleep studies later I ended up with a CPAP.

Same here. I had 2 & hated that I was being watched b strangers. I often wondered if how they was able to get enough I info because I was up every hour wishing the night was over. Sooooooo glad I don't ever have to do another.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
