Lump from my throat to my chest to my stomach...and back again.

Recommended Posts

I have had this feeling since 2 days post op. I really haven't told my dr directly, but the nurses say it's gas. We'll this is the most painful gas ever. It hits n moves for a space of 7 seconds....it does feel like it could be gas, but a gas ball? Should I call the dr or try a home remedy?

I haven't had my surgery yet, but when I had my laproscopic tubal many years ago and they used the gas to blow up my stomach, it hurt for a few days while the gas traveled through my body. I can remember it hurting especially bad in my shoulders.

yes it hurts like hell. you would never think gas pains would be as high as they get after surgery. it is ffrom the gas they pump you up with. mine took almost 2 weeks to go away, but it DOES go away. you just have to wait and let it pass. good luck!

Talk to your doctor. It could be several things, not just one thing. GasX never hurts, though. I should have stock in GasX company.

After this procedure everything you probably eat will cause air buildup in your gut. Make sure to walk walk and walk. This will move the gas and also taking chewables gas x should give you some relief. If not contact your physician.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
